Considering how there is only one point in time where Tali ever took her mask off while off a ship and while the sun was setting, this is pretty much the only scenario that makes sense for her picture.

As for her revealed design, I actually really like it! What I do NOT like is how it was revealed through a clumsily photoshopped stock photo. They couldn't have just copied the basic Tali mesh, make a face out of various tweaked FemShep facial assets and then put it in the scene spoofed above, where she takes her mask off anyway but the game doesn't show you? Just sayin'.

Edit: Some have been saying she isn't purple. The picture in game is a bit unclear when it comes to color, so... Creative license. :)

Edit 3: After being asked this several times, no, she's not crying in that last panel, it's just the way I drew her eyes. I'd go back and change it, but by now it's been way too long anyway.

I agree, she turned out pretty, but I'm going with the Indoctrination Theory.
The Reapers, (being creations of Bioware, they can only be as creative as their makers) so they were unprepared for Shep to reject Miranda (who they had influenced her father to design with Shep in mind) as his main love interest, so when Shep broke script in a huge way and got involved with our dextro-hottie, the Reapers had to quickly figure out what she'd look like. Harbinger (like his makers) didnt have time to hire a Quarian model, and the credit cards apps were down because of the war, so it set a sub-process to scour the internet for a free image, sloppily Photoshop the ears and digits to fit the suit and voila'!

We can only hope for a hostile takeover at Bioware before ME4 so the new blood can use their creative license to re-reinstate the Indoctrination Theory as fact and we can see what a real Quarian looks like when the ghost of Legion (who mind melded with Shep's cybernetics) rescues Shep from the Reaper-Matrix and reunnites him with Tali who no longer needs her visor (and is now running suit application, Nerve-Stim Pro:Ultimate Edition) since Quarians could not possibly be as human looking as the Asari as *Skelletang figured out. Really? I haven't been keeping up with the DLC (I'm putting my current Renegade playthrough on hold till all the DLC comes out, and I wanna go into it blind), but I'm surprised it took this long.
